google.com/ncr is obsolete as of Dec. 15. You can use google.com/?gws_rd=cr for generic .com results. [gws=google web server; rd=redirect; cr=country redirect empty].

Non-js enabled browsers still may do the country redirect when conducting a search because the gws_rd=cr parameters aren’t properly transported through the “Please click here if you are not redirected within a few seconds” thingy. Use https://encrypted.google.com/ or http://www.google.com/custom. Or be really quick and click “here”. This will write the no-redirect preference to the Google cookie, so you’ll only have to do it once per cookie-lifetime.
